Giuseppe Gangarossa

Professor of Neurobiology at Université Paris Cité

Giuseppe Gangarossa is Professor of Neurobiology at the Université Paris Cité and a member of the Functional and Adaptive Biology Unit (CNRS UMR 8251). His research focuses on the mechanisms that regulate the homeostatic and hedonic circuits involved in controlling energy balance and eating behaviour. He holds a doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of Bologna (Italy) and a European doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, obtained between the University of Bologna and the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) in 2011. Between 2011 and 2016, he carried out postdoctoral research in France and Canada. Appointed Senior Lecturer at Université Paris Cité in 2017, he became Professor there in 2022. Recent honours include appointment as a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (2023) and the prestigious Humboldt Fellowship (2025). As a Humboldtian, he is also affiliated to the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics (Tübingen, Germany). Committed to equity in academia, Prof. Gangarossa actively campaigns against discrimination and the stigmatisation of LGBTQIA+ people as a member of the ALBA Network.
