Jean-Paul Maréchal

Associate Professor in Economics at Université Paris-Saclay and Deputy Director of IDEST

Jean-Paul Maréchal is a lecturer in economics at Paris-Saclay University, deputy director of IDEST (Institute for Space and Telecommunications Law – Paris-Saclay University) and associate researcher at SOURCE (Sustainability and Resilience – UMI 272 – University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and Research Institute for Development).

He is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Vortex published by CESA (Center for Aerospace Strategic Studies – French Air and Space Force). His areas of research include the Chinese economy, environmental economics, sustainable development, climate economics, industrial economics, and international political economics.

He has published more than 160 articles and six books, one of which – Humaniser l’économie (Desclée de Brouwer) – was awarded a prize by the Académie des sciences morales et politiques in 2001. His latest book, Chine/USA. Le climat en jeu (China/USA: The Climate at Stake), was published by Choiseul in 2011. In 2017, he edited a book published by CNRS Édition: La Chine face au mur de l'environnement ? (China Facing the Environmental Wall?).
