Lydéric Bocquet is Director of Research at the CNRS and Associate Professor at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS). He heads the Micromégas team in the ENS Physics Department, which studies the molecular mechanics of fluids through experiments, theory, and modeling.
For more than fifteen years, he has devoted himself primarily to nanofluidics, the science of flows at the nanometric scale, at the frontier between fluid mechanics, molecular matter, and quantum phenomena. His work has revealed multiple unique properties such as frictionless flows, quantum effects, and neuromorphic effects. He has received various national and international scientific awards, including the ENI Awards and the CNRS Innovation Medal. He has held an annual chair at the Collège de France and has been elected to the French Academy of Sciences. His research has led to the creation of four start-ups based on fundamental research in nanofluidics, covering osmotic energy (Sweetch-Energy), submicron additive manufacturing (Hummink), beverage de-alcoholization (Altr), and water desalination (Ilion water technology).
