Emeritus Research Director at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), member of the Development and Societies Joint Research Unit (IEDES-IRD). She is a political sociologist specializing in Egypt and the Arab world. Her work has addressed the multiple dimensions of political life in Egypt: Islamic associations, political parties, the Muslim Brotherhood, voting, political ideologies, local power, social movements, the 2011 uprising, etc.
