Gérard Bonhomme

Professor Emeritus at Université de Lorraine and Chair of the Energy & Environment Committee of the French Physics Society

Professor Emeritus at the University of Lorraine, Jean Lamour Institute, UMR 7198 CNRS-Université de Lorraine. President of the Energy & Environment Commission of the French Physics Society. He is an engineer from the École Centrale de Nantes, holds a PhD in plasma physics and a doctorate in science.

During his academic career, he has conducted research in plasma physics, mainly in the field of instability and turbulence studies, with around 100 published articles. He has contributed to the creation and management of research and training structures and projects at national and international level (notably Erasmus Mundus) in the field of magnetic fusion, in connection with the ITER project.

He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Jean Lamour Institute at the University of Lorraine and is deeply involved in discussions on energy-related issues, notably as Chair of the Energy & Environment Commission of the French Physical Society and as a member of the Board of the Energy Group of the European Physical Society. He coordinated the production of the dossier on energy transition and the challenges of defossilization in issue No. 77 of Reflets de la physique.
