Grégoire Rota-Graziosi is a professor of economics at Université Clermont Auvergne and a researcher at CERDI (CNRS–IRD). He was Director of CERDI from 2017 to 2022. He was also a Senior Economist in the Public Finance Department of the International Monetary Fund between 2010 and 2015 and currently acts as a Key Expert for the European Commission’s DG INTPA.
His research focuses primarily on public finance, international taxation, development economics and the governance of natural resources. His recent work analyses, in particular, the taxation of critical minerals, the localisation and distribution of rents along value chains, price transparency, supply contracts and market design. He has also led numerous technical assistance missions, notably for the IMF, the World Bank and the French Development Agency, on taxation issues.
His work has been published in international journals such as Nature, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Development Economics, Games and Economic Behaviour, International Tax and Public Finance and the Oxford Review of Economic Policy. His work combines academic research, providing expertise to international organisations and advising governments on tax reforms and the management of natural resources.
