Jean Langlois-Berthelot

Doctor of Applied Mathematics

Jean Langlois-Berthelot is an expert in data science applied to strategic decision-making. Holding degrees across multiple disciplines, he earned a doctorate in applied mathematics and conducted research at École Polytechnique, INRIA, and Stanford University. His work focuses on the modeling of complex systems, the evaluation of critical technologies, and the anticipation of industrial and military dynamics. He has held expert and team management positions within several directorates of the French State, notably in the areas of defense innovation and sovereign technological architectures. He has taught at several institutions, led a military education chair, and regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals as well as in specialized media alongside industrial and security-defense stakeholders.

He develops analytical frameworks and tools designed to improve decision-making robustness in high-uncertainty environments. As founder of Techwave and the consulting firm System Risk Assessment and Technology, he conceived the KINETICS DECISION framework — a strategic serious game combining applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, and simulation — which is used by several public authorities and private organizations. His work aims to structure the technological anticipation and strategic decision-making capabilities of organizations engaged in technological transformation.
