Julie Chrétien

After earning an engineering degree from the École des Ponts and a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Development (specializing in Cities, Services, and Land Use) from the Institut Français d’Urbanisme in 2012, Julie Chrétien wrote her thesis on the relationship between perceptions of time and mobility practices at the City, Mobility, and Transportation Laboratory (LVMT) under the supervision of Frédéric De Coninck and Marie-Hélène Massot. At the same time, she taught for two years as a research assistant in sociology at the Université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée (now Université Gustave Eiffel). She continued her research career with a one-year postdoctoral fellowship on the use of mobile phone data to analyze individuals’ travel patterns.

In 2018, she left academia to join 6t-bureau de recherche, first as a project manager and then, starting in 2022, as director of operations and research, a position she held until 2024. There, she led projects supporting local and national public policies and helped mobility operators better understand their users.

Since 2025, she has been a researcher at the Co-Innovation Lab at École des Ponts, where she works on planning bicycle infrastructure in suburban and rural areas, as well as on the evaluation and governance of everyday carpooling.
