Martin Genet

Assistant Professor in the Mechanics Department of École Polytechnique in the MΞDISIM team (INIRIA/IP Paris)

Afther his PhD on the multiscale and multiphysics modeling of the failure and lifetime of ceramic composites used in aeronautical industry, Martin Genet worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He then obtained a Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowship and started working on cardiac applications, in between the University of California at San Francisco, Stanford University and the ETH-Zurich. In 2015 he moved to École polytechnique as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanics Department, with research posting within the MΞDISIM team, which belongs to both INRIA and the Solid Mechanics Laboratory of École Polytechnique/CNRS (UMR7649). He is involved in many aspects of the research on soft tissue biomechanics and biomedical engineering, including developing models of soft tissues and organs (especially the heart and the lungs) to study their mechanical behavior, their structure-properties relationships, their growth & remodeling, etc., as well as developing personalized models (i.e., digital twins) by assimilating data (especially images) into the models in order to develop more objective & quantitative tools for diagnosing & treating various diseases.
