Mikael Philippe is an energy engineer by training and is in charge of the Geothermal and Energy Storage Unit (GSE) within BRGM's Georesources Directorate. This multidisciplinary GSE unit aims to improve knowledge to characterise and exploit the geothermal resource and the potential of underground energy storage. It proposes optimal solutions integrated into energy systems. Mikael Philippe also represents BRGM in the French Association of Geothermal Professionals and the Geothermal Commission of the Renewable Energy Union.
