An agricultural engineer with a Ph.D. and the qualification to supervise research (HDR) in agricultural sciences, Sébastien Denys is the Director of Health, Environment, and Occupational Health at Santé publique France, a division he established in 2019. He has nearly 25 years of experience in assessing environmental exposures, risks, and impacts on health. His division oversees various monitoring programs focused on exposure and health in relation to key environmental issues—chemicals and asbestos, climate and climate change, air and soil pollution, the impact of industrial activity, and working conditions. His work is specifically aimed at promoting the integration of findings from these programs into public policies and preventive measures to protect and improve health. He contributes to major public health plans in the fields of environmental health and occupational health and, in this capacity, participates in the various governing bodies for these plans as well as in various expert groups at the national and European levels. At the international and European levels, he chaired the Climate Change and Health Committee of the International Association of Public Health Agencies (IANPHI) from 2022 to 2026 and helps steer European projects.
