Sylvain Cros graduated with a PhD in energetics from Mines Paris-PSL in 2004, and went on to work at INRAe and École Polytechnique's Laboratoire de météorologie dynamique (LMD) as a research engineer in satellite image processing for climate modeling. From 2013, he was scientific director of Reuniwatt, a start-up specialized in renewable energy forecasting. In 2019, he joined LMD to support the SIRTA team in developing meteorological applications for smart-grid demonstrators. He leads the solar resource research action of the Energy4Climate center at the Institut polytechnique de Paris. He also works as a consultant for FX-Conseil on weather and climate for energy systems.
