Arnaud Orain

Arnaud Orain has been Director of Studies at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris since 2023, and is a researcher in economic history and the intellectual history of economics at the Centre de recherches historiques (UMR CNRS 8558). He was previously a professor of economics at Paris 8 Saint-Denis. He recently published Le Monde confisqué. Essai sur le capitalisme de la finitude (16e-21e siècle) (Flammation, 2025), currently being translated into numerous languages, and The Lost Knowledge of Economics. Contribution à l'équilibre du vivant (Gallimard, 2023), which will be published in the summer of 2026 by The University of Chicago Press.
