Éric Guilyardi

Climatologist, CNRS Research Director and Member of the Pierre-Simon Laplace Institute

An oceanographer and climatologist, research director at the CNRS, and member of the Pierre Simon Laplace Institute in Paris, Eric Guilyardi is an expert on the ocean’s role in climate. He was the lead author of the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report and contributed to the Sixth. He chairs the Office for Climate Education, operating under the auspices of UNESCO, which aims to support elementary and secondary school teachers in climate education around the world. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the French Ministry of National Education and of the CNRS Ethics Committee, for which he led the drafting of an advisory opinion on scientists’ public engagement.
