Éric Servat

Director of UNESCO International Centre for Water

Research Director at IRD and Associate Professor at University of Montpellier, he headed the "HydroSciences Montpellier" Laboratory between 2001 and 2014. After creating Institut Montpellierrain de l'Eau et de l'Environnement (IM2E) in 2015, he is currently the Director of the recently created UNESCO International Centre for Water (ICIREWARD) in Montpellier (2021), and Director of Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers (OSU) de Montpellier. He was Vice President of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences between 2015 and 2019, President of the Comité Français des Sciences Hydrologiques from 2013 to 2020 and Vice President of the Comité National Français de Géodésie et de Géophysique from 2019 to 2023.

He has coordinated and led numerous international programs, notably in partnership with UNESCO's Intergovernmental Hydrological Program and its emblematic "FRIEND-Water" program, which brings together more than 160 countries on every continent. Keen to strengthen and develop links between the academic and socio-economic spheres, he has been Vice-Chairman of the "Aqua-Valley" water cluster since 2012.
